Every year I usually ask for some sort of kitchen appliance for Christmas / birthday. Jesus and I share a birthday week (not surprisingly, He gets most of the birthday attention). This year I asked for an electric wok. Sadly, it has been sitting in the box, in my kitchen for the last two weeks.
Yes - TWO WEEKS ????
In an effort to stop putting things off (one of my goals for 2012) I pulled out that bad boy and made Shrimp Pad Thai for dinner.
I don't like to brag but ... it was awesome!
The recipe I like is from the food blog steamy kitchen; I checked out her book from the library and love it. I bought the rice noodles and some other ingredients at an Asian grocery on Clays Mill Road where the old library use to be. It looks a little sketchy from the outside but, it's nice and clean with a really friendly sales clerk.
This recipe is super easy and everything went together really well. When I finished cooking, I set the wok to warm and piled my plate with deliciousness; added some fresh cilantro, chopped cashews and a lime wedge, now we’re talking.
When I came back to my wok, which was supposed to be keeping my food warm, this is what I found.
Guess there is a learning curve to the whole wok experience. Blush
