Exercise Smarter

The C word ... CARDIO.  I despise it ~ a necessary evil for someone like me.  I'm genetically programmed to eat excessive carbs.  Curse you potato chips!

However, there has been a bright spot lately in my cardio workouts.  On a whim I asked for a heart rate monitor for Christmas.  Started using it right away and I love it!  




I was really surprised to find out that I was getting my heart rate up too high .. could it be I'm getting older? Hogwash - 36 is the new 25 right?

That woman on the StairMaster sweating profusely and breathing heavily was me before my monitor.  Don't get me wrong I'm still exerting myself, but in a more controlled manor. The best part is I know I won't over do it.   

Here is a chart that will help you manage your heart rate.  It has totally changed the way I workout. If you're not using one, I suggest you make the investment (mine was about $40).
